A pregnant, drug-addicted woman is torn between whether or not to have an abortion. There are no absolutely positive characters in the film, and Payne takes digs at both sides of the abortion issue with a reckless courage and even a little bit of venomous sarcasm - in a dispute that rises to the realm of ideology, the individual life is the one that is ultimately ignored and sacrificed. Though the comedic elements are a bit overblown, Payne's sharp and perceptive social satire and excellent sense of humor make their first appearance in the film. It was also from this movie that Payne and Jim Taylor engaged in co-writing.
