Judah (Martin Landau) is a successful ophthalmologist who has made a solid career not only in academia, but also in philanthropy. To outsiders, Judah and his wife Miriam (Claire Bloom) are a model couple with a long and stable marriage, but in reality, Judah has been in an intimate relationship with a woman named Dolores (Anjelica Huston) for years. To Judah's dismay, Dolores can no longer tolerate her secret lover, and aggressively threatens Judah with having their relationship publicized.In addition to Judah, Cliff (Woody Allen) has his own dilemma; his obnoxious great-uncle Lester (Alan Alda) wants to make an autobiographical documentary, and Cliff is forced to become the director of the documentary. While putting up with Lester's annoying personality, Cliff meets his true love, Halle (Mia Farrow).
