This season she finally gives up her longtime infatuation with Colin. She decides it's time to find a husband, preferably one who will allow her to be independent enough to continue living the double life of Ms. Wisdowen away from her mother and sisters. But Penelope's attempts at the marriage market end in fiasco due to her lack of confidence. Meanwhile, Colin finishes his summer travels with a new, refreshed look. But he is dismayed to find that Penelope, who has always admired him, is drifting away from him. In an effort to salvage their friendship, Colin offers to coach Penelope on developing her confidence and help her find a good son-in-law over the course of the season. But as his lessons begin to work, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are really just friendship. For Penelope, the discord between her and Eloise (Claudia Jesse) complicates matters: while Eloise has found a new friend in an incredible place, Penelope's growing prominence makes it more difficult for her to keep her other secret as Ms. Wisdomdowne.
