Michael (Andy Garcia) and Alice (Meg Ryan) have a spacious apartment, cute kids, and a life that should smell like happiness. But Alice's drinking problem has become a hidden danger to their happiness, and when she's drunk, she beats up her daughter. Understanding her problem and desperately wanting to correct it, she checked into a sanatorium specializing in sobriety.But when Michael saw his wife enjoying herself with other people in the nursing home, he suddenly felt a sense of loss, as if he no longer mattered to Alice. Iris has managed to stop drinking and has become a much gentler person than before. Iris still hangs out with her friends from the sanatorium, but Michael is not happy about it. In a fit of rage, Michael leaves his and Alice's home.When they are reunited, Iris graciously invites them to her home for a presentation on her recovery. On the day of the presentation, Michael feels how much his behavior has hurt Iris ......
