Jim (Christian Bale) is a former soldier whose brutal experiences on the battlefield have left a deep shadow in his heart, and after his discharge from the army, memories tainted with blood and violence still keep surfacing in Jim's mind, causing him to feel doubly confused. In the midst of the fear and confusion, there is one person whose presence firmly supports Jim from breaking down: Jim's girlfriend Marta (Tammy Trull).Mike (Freddy Rodríguez), Jim's best friend, has recently run into trouble when his beloved girlfriend, Sylvia, tries to break up with him because there's nothing Sylvia wants from Mike, who's lost his job and his mind. The difficulties of life bring Mike and Jim together, but as time goes by, the differences between the two become bigger and bigger, and become the trigger for tragedy.
