The story takes place in the midst of an ordinary family located in Southern California. Carol (Julianne Moore) and her husband Greg (Xander Berkeley) have been married for many years, and together they have raised their children. Greg's career is going well, and Carol is living a carefree life, making the family a model family in the eyes of others.One day, however, the peace and quiet suddenly came to an end. Carol began to experience nosebleeds, dizziness, and an inability to breathe, which, over time, became more and more severe. Carol and Greg sought medical attention, but they were baffled by the fact that, according to the test reports, all of Carol's bodily organs were functioning as normal, yet the symptoms she was exhibiting were indeed real.
