Based on Lawrence Block's 1992 crime novel of the same name, the movie stars Neeson as Matthew Scudder, a former NYPD officer who is now a private investigator in the unlicensed trade. A series of kidnappings targeting the wives of drug dealers takes place in New York, and the victims are all brutally murdered.Scudder agrees to a request from one of them (Dan Stevens), as well as his own brother, to find the two killers behind the murders with the help of a former colleague and a 17-year-old street artist.
