Buddy, the dog who rode the basketball court, is now on the soccer field! Josh is now in middle school, and because his single mom has fallen in love with the town's new veterinarian, Patrick Sullivan, he can't stand the idea of staying home and dealing with his mom, so he and his best friend, Tom, join the school's soccer team, and his dog, Buddy, becomes a member of the team as well, bringing the team back to life from the dead. But bad guys Natalya and Popov are out to steal Buddy and take him to their circus in Moscow to make a fortune. When veterinarian Patrick Sullivan proposes to Josh's mom, Josh is angry and runs away from home, but he doesn't realize that this would give the bad guys a good chance to take Buddy away from him. The coach of the team finds Josh at the train station, but he finds that Buddy is missing. On the other hand, veterinarian Patrick Sullivan discovers Buddy's whereabouts and takes the police to arrest the bad guy, but also must take Buddy to the game site to let the team win.
