In 1839, the Amistad, a ship transporting black slaves, was caught in a storm on the ocean, the black slaves took advantage of the riot and cut down the crew, took control of the Amistad and tried to sail back home, however, six weeks later, they arrived at the United States by mistake, and the 44 surviving black slaves were arrested by the U.S. military, and would face charges of murder. At this point, the Queen of Spain asked the President of the United States for the extradition of the slaves belonging to Spain; two naval officers claimed that the slaves were the spoils of war; and someone else produced proof of purchase of the slaves in Cuba. As the parties argue, Jordson (Morgan Freeman), one of the leaders of the abolitionist society and head of a shipping company, and his friend Tappan hire Roger, a lawyer, to prove that the slaves are from Africa and to gain their freedom in the midst of abolitionist ideals ......
