Dreaming of becoming an amazing criminal, Deignan (Owen Wilson) enlists his best friend Anthony (Luke Wilson), who has just finished a life of treatment in a psychiatric hospital, and Bob (Robert Musgrave), a marijuana aficionado who is able to act as a chauffeur form a hastily assembled criminal gang. Warming up by burglarizing Anthony's house, the would-be criminals practice their marksmanship and devise a route that leads to a successful robbery of a bookstore. Highly motivated to enter the criminal world, Deignan and the others flee in their car and hide out in a motel, where Anthony falls in love with the motel's Uruguayan waitress at first sight, while Bob is distracted by the news that his brother has been sent to prison. As the romance between Anthony and the waitress flourishes, Bob leaves them behind and returns home, and Deignan and Anthony finally break up and return to their quiet lives. However, Deignan still hasn't given up his dream of committing crimes, and he turns to his idol, the mobster Henry, for help...
