Although Randolph (Robin Williams) is the host of a children's television program, his real personality and image is far less kind and affable than the program makes it out to be. Parents must pay him bribes to participate in his children's program, and Randolph has ties to gangsters.The network fires Randolph after the incident, and in order to make up for the reputational damage that Randolph's bad image has done to the network, they must quickly find a replacement who can be trusted and has a clean bill of health, and good fortune strikes in the form of a third-rate actor named Morpheus (Edward Norton). To everyone's surprise, Morpheus actually becomes a hit, which makes Randolph, whose life is in shambles, hate red, and he has only one thing on his mind, which is to get rid of Morpheus.
