Henry barhett (Adrien Brody) arrives as a substitute teacher at a community school. The school is on the brink of ruin because of student rebellion and mismanagement, and a group of teachers led by Doris (Lucy liu) are suffering. Henry's first lesson was met with a challenge from a rogue student, but he deftly defused it. He won over his female teacher, Christina Hendricks. At the same time, his teaching methods have attracted the interest of students, including Meredith, who suffered from obesity. She has been silently subjected to all sorts of scolding and ridicule brought on by her weight. But because of the teacher, she seems to have found all the reasons... But there was a lot of pressure inside Henry, too, as his grandfather lay dying and his mother's suicide haunted him. One night, he broke down on the bus and wept alone.
