Detective John McCullen (Bruce Willis) arrives in Los Angeles from New York to meet his wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) after six months of separation. He was invited to a Christmas party on the 30th floor of a mansion. However, a group of bandits have made use of the 600 million yuan of public bonds stored in the building's vault. They cordoned off the building and held the partygoers hostage. McCullen narrowly escapes and engages in a fierce struggle with the gangsters alone.
