Willie the whale has returned to his home and Jesse (Jason James Richter) has grown up to become a coastal scientist, but their story isn't over. The boy's (Vincent Berry) father, John (Patrick Kilpatrick), is an outlaw whaler who sometimes takes Max with him when he follows the whales through the waves, causing Max to have conflicting feelings about the whales.When Max and his father break into Willie's territory during a whaling operation, the situation is so critical that Jesse appears to resolve the crisis in a life-or-death situation. The accident makes Max realize the dangers of his father's actions, but John continues to act in the same way. Once again, when John falls into the sea during an operation and is in danger of dying, Willie steps in to save him, regardless of his past behavior.
