The only time Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X met was on March 26, 1964 at the U.S. Capitol, where the two men participated in a Senate debate on the 1964 Civil Rights Act.The show's story will explore the two men's formative years, groundbreaking accomplishments, competing philosophies and key relationships. While King advanced racial equality through nonviolent protest, Malcolm X spoke out for black empowerment, identity and self-determination. With awe-inspiring wives Corita Scott King and Betty Shabazz by their side, respectively, King and X became synonymous with the civil rights era and the fight for racial and economic justice. Though they only met once and often challenged each other's views, neither would have been as successful without the other.
