The story takes place in Poland in 1944, where the German army's iron hooves have set foot on the suffering land, and for a time, life has been devastated, and the place has become a hell on earth. As a Jewish boy, Jacob (Robin Williams) and many others like him are forced to work as cows and horses for the Germans, and with all channels of information blocked by the army, Poland becomes an isolated city.By chance, Jacob hears on the radio that the Germans are engaged in a fierce battle with the Soviets, fought nowhere else but in Bensanik, only a few hundred kilometres from Poland. The demoralised Jacob decided to tell more people about this precious piece of news, and with Jacob's additions, the Allied Soviets had gained an irreversible advantage in the fight. This false information boosts Jewish morale, but it also reaches the ears of the Germans, who begin a meticulous investigation to catch the perpetrators of the rumour.
