After spending years photographing some of the most dangerous animals on the planet, Craig Foster was exhausted, depressed, and in turmoil with his family relationships. He decided to suspend his career and return to his hometown of Cape Town, South Africa, to return to the kelp forests near the coast where the magical underwater world was his origin. For nearly a decade, Craig has spent his days diving in freezing waters, stripping off his wetsuit and diving gear in one of the most predator-rich places on Earth. The common octopus he encountered and tracked was initially the subject of his research, then became his teacher, showing him things no human had ever seen before.
