It's the Christmas season again, and Paul McDunn (Martin Freeman), an elementary school teacher at the Episcopal Church's main school, is getting his ass handed to him by a Christmas retrospective show. The reason is simple: he's bragging in front of everyone that he's going to give the town the best retrospective show ever, and he's bragging that his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer (Ashley Jensen), is going to turn the Christmas show into a movie as a Hollywood producer.But just as Paul becomes the talk of the town, the expectations of all the parents and children, and the pressure of the crowd to make a fortune out of this opportunity, creates a dilemma for Paul. The only hope is for Jennifer, who he hasn't spoken to in years, to contact Hollywood and come to town to get what everyone wants.
