Only a few of the 109 passengers survive the crash of an airplane. Claire (Anne Hathaway), a psychiatrist, is sent by her mentor to treat the survivors, but finds herself falling in love with one of the survivors, Eric (Patrick Wilson), a former vice president of a securities firm. Meanwhile, Claire discovers that there is constant surveillance outside the clinic, that she is being followed, that patients are mysteriously disappearing, and that even airline employees are threatening her to mind her own business, which leads Claire to suspect that the airline is deliberately using operational errors to cover up the fact that there was a mechanical malfunction to avoid an investigation, which in turn is being used to poison the surviving passengers who are aware of the truth. As Claire's relationship with Eric deepens, the patients become fewer and fewer, Claire loses contact with her sister's family, and even her own safety is threatened...
