In this four-part series, he suggests that the Dark Ages were a time when great artistic achievements came to the fore and new ideas and religions inspired all kinds of artistic innovations. He travelled through Europe, Africa, and Asia, visiting the world's most famous collections and discovering hidden art treasures; all in an attempt to prove that the Dark Ages were an ‘age of light’.
