Tally (Michelle Pfeiffer) is an ordinary waitress, but she's always had a dream in her heart to be an announcer. How she wants her dream to come true, so she sends a videotape of her former cheerleading performance to a television station, thinking that the person won't be interested in her, but still willing to try.Things turn out to be more than she ever imagined and she not only gets hired by the station, but is mentored by veteran reporter Warren (Robert Redford). The first time Tally broadcasts the weather news, she doesn't do as well as she would like, but she is encouraged by Warren and learns from him with great dedication. Finally, the two fall in love with each other over the many hours they spend together. Tally took to her job as a reporter slowly, and with Warren's help, her career was going well. But as fate would have it, Warren was shot in Panama during an interview after their marriage ......
