Blake (Christopher Abbott) is a husband and father living in San Francisco. When his own father disappears and is found dead, he inherits his old childhood home in a remote area of rural Oregon. When his marriage to his career-driven femme fatale wife, Charlette (Julia Garner), comes apart, Blake convinces Charlette to take their young daughter, Ginger (Matilda Firth), with them out of the city for a vacation at his old childhood home.But when the family arrives at the farmhouse late at night, they are suddenly attacked by an unseen monster, and in order to escape the danger, they take refuge inside the farmhouse and seal all the entrances while the beast prowls outside. As they fearfully try to make it through the night, Blake begins to act strangely and gradually transforms into an unknown monster, and Charlette is forced to decide: is the horror inside the house more deadly, or is the danger outside more terrifying?
